Live for Fame

The Live for Fame team is proud to announce that we’ve hit 100 users. What makes us most happy about this achievement is that we did it with little or no advertising. What does that mean? People are talking. Someone suggesting the site to a friend or family member is the biggest compliment we can receive and we thank you.

NEW FEATURES & DESIGN CHANGES

We can’t wait to roll out some exciting features we’re working on. Since the Beta version was release our users have sent us a great amount of constructive feedback and we’ve been listening. Soon, those ideas and suggestions will be seen on the Live for Fame website. One of those features is our Activity Stream which will allow users to see what’s going on with everyone in detail. Our Activity Stream will report the happends on the site like who’s commenting on what and who is starring who’s work. For example, if another user Stars a photo you’ll see when it happened and how long ago, this way, you’ll always be able to find the next rising star.

We’re also working on a more streamlined navigation to help you explore the site with ease. We have gotten some feedback from users that the current navigation can get confusing so we’re working hard to solve that issue.

You may have also noticed some minor changes being made throughout the site. We’re constantly reviewing the site looking for any changes that we can make to make your experience more enjoyable.

Also, we have made it possible for users to remove their own comments and update their photo pages. Please keep in mind that we’re still in the beta stage of the site so you might see features and design elements come and go.

MICHAEL PERRY VIDEO BLOGS

Our very own CEO, Michael Perry, will continue to keep users up-to-date with his video blogs. As of now he has 4 up for your viewing pleasure (view) and he’s going to keep them coming. If you’re making yourself noticed on Live for Fame you’ll get a mention and he’ll let you know what he thinks about what you’re doing to gain that fame.

Hey all! We launched this last Monday, and we’ve had 74 users sign up so far!

A few people asked where to find the L4F blog so this will be linked to the main site. (I love how easy it is to manage group blogs with Tumblr)

TOP STARS

So far this week we’ve seen someone hit their first 100 stars! We didn’t expect for something like this so soon, and actually planned on having special awards for this type of achievement.

The top stars page was thrown together on the morning of the launch (I remember checking it in @ about 5am) so it hasn’t had the attention it deserves. I’d like to add some more actions to that page so I can request to add them, and also directly message them from the top stars page to send my congrats.

AWARDS

The awards idea is going to resemble something similar to IconBuffet. They do a really good job with this, and seem to have the system down! Now we just have to come up with cool awards to give…

Keep checking back for some progress on this because we think awards will really give users some motivation for participating.

STAR FEED

One thing we noticed right away was there was no way to actively check what content was being starred. The user would have keep an eye on their starred photos to see if anyone else had the same interest.

We’ll first be integrating a Stars tab to the user’s profile to grab all of the photos or audio that user starred, and also give you a better breakdown of their score and why (if they’re a top star) they have so many stars.

FEEDBACK

It’s still really early in the game and we have some fixes like IE6 browser bugs and a little bit of a navigational issue, but overall here is some feedback we’re hearing:

“Coverflow on profiles rocks! I can see the best photos with just a few clicks”

“So far so good! The UI is great and is very easy on the eyes”

“It’s pretty cool so far. I like the simplicity of everything, and the ranking system is cool.”

“a nice spot to find the best of the best. Think about how cool it would be if I could view the top 25 rated/viewed videos shared on Pownce”
